An environmental campaign was run by Pakistan Innovation Summit for Education, in order to raise awareness on littering in Khunjerab National Park and wall-chalking in Hunza. PISE worked to reduce littering in the National Parks of Gilgit Baltistan (GB). PISE’s proposal was accepted by the GB government; the national parks will provide a trash bag to any vehicle (with vehicle number written on the trash bag) entering these parks. The tourists will put the trash in these bags and when returning from these parks they will submit their collected trash to the exit points of these parks. Whoever failed to do so will be fined.
Telecommunication companies do a lot of wall chalking in Pakistan. PISE’s proposal of making wall chalking in Hunza illegal was approved by the local government. In 2017, a law was passed to ban all sorts of wall chalking.
